Istraland showcases the wild side of the Istrian Peninsula, linking Croatia’s coastal towns with its remote interior on a demanding self-supported gravel adventure. Organised around the idea of exploration rather than pure racing, the event combines Mediterranean scenery, rugged off-road terrain, and the rich cultural heritage of Istria into one unforgettable bikepacking experience.
The 2026 edition features a fixed GPX route of approximately 500 kilometres with around 10,000 metres of elevation gain, starting and finishing in Poreč, Croatia. Riders traverse a constantly changing mix of gravel roads, forest tracks, rocky trails, abandoned railways, and quiet village lanes, with highlights including the Parenzana Trail, the limestone hills of inland Istria, and spectacular views of the Adriatic Sea.
Istraland follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Participants are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. The event rewards smart pacing, efficient resupply, and the ability to handle both fast gravel and rougher technical sections over multiple days of continuous riding.
From medieval hilltop towns and vineyards to dense forests and dramatic coastal cliffs, Istraland captures the incredible diversity of Istria in a single route. It is an ideal challenge for riders seeking a compact but intense gravel ultra with a strong sense of place and adventure.
