What to Expect on Tirreno Apostol

Tirreno Apóstol is a self-supported gravel bikepacking adventure that showcases the wild beauty of Galicia, leading riders across one of Spain’s greenest and most diverse regions. Covering approximately 500 kilometres with more than 10,000 metres of elevation gain, the route combines rugged mountains, ancient forests, winding rivers, and historic villages into an unforgettable ultra-distance challenge.

The event starts in Baiona, on Galicia’s Atlantic coast, and finishes in Santiago de Compostela, one of Europe’s most iconic pilgrimage destinations. Along the way, riders follow a fixed GPS route through remote gravel roads, quiet backroads, and demanding climbs, with four mandatory checkpoints guiding the journey north across the region.

Tirreno Apóstol follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. A 60-hour time limit adds an extra layer of challenge, rewarding not only physical endurance but also smart pacing and efficient decision-making.

Created to promote gravel cycling and bikepacking in Galicia, the event places as much emphasis on adventure as performance. From coastal landscapes to forested mountains and the legendary finish in Santiago de Compostela, Tirreno Apóstol offers a rewarding journey through one of Spain’s most captivating cycling destinations.
