Buggl Nuff, Buggl Na is a self-supported road and gravel bikepacking challenge that invites riders to explore Germany’s Black Forest using their own route. Rather than following a fixed GPX track, participants must visit four mandatory checkpoints in any order, creating a strategic ultra where route planning is just as important as endurance.
The event covers approximately 500 kilometres with around 9,000 metres of elevation gain, starting and finishing in Horb am Neckar, Germany. Riders are free to choose their own roads and gravel tracks between the four checkpoints, allowing each participant to create a unique journey through the Black Forest’s forests, valleys, and mountain roads. The 2026 edition takes place from 4–6 September 2026.
Buggl Nuff, Buggl Na follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance or pre-arranged accommodation permitted. Solo and duo categories are available, rewarding smart decision-making, efficient pacing, and creative route planning.
Blending free-route navigation with the spectacular scenery of the Black Forest, Buggl Nuff, Buggl Na offers a fresh take on ultra-distance cycling. It is an event where every rider follows a different path, but everyone shares the same adventure.
Based on this event's terrain, difficulty and riding style.
At 500 km with 9000 m of elevation gain, Nuff Na is roughly the distance of 12 marathons back to back, with climbing that adds up to more than 1 times the height of Mount Everest.
A Gravel Bike is the right tool for Nuff Na. Set it up with 45-50mm Tubeless rubber and gear it low — a 38-40T (1x) chainring and 10-51T cassette will keep you spinning on the steeper sections.
We rate Nuff Na as Intermediate overall. Riders should be ready for rough, technical terrain for a good stretch of the route, fairly flat elevation gain, and cool conditions.
Nuff Na runs on September 4, 2026, placing it firmly in the autumn riding season, as conditions start cooling but daylight hours are shrinking.
Nuff Na runs primarily on gravel, and we'd recommend 45-50mm Tubeless tires to handle it comfortably.
