The Bright Midnight is a self-supported bikepacking adventure through the spectacular landscapes of Norway, designed around one unique idea: riding beneath the endless daylight of the Arctic summer. Starting and finishing in the mountain village of Tolga, the route links remote gravel roads, dramatic fjords, national parks, and high mountain passes in one unforgettable loop.
The route covers approximately 1,100 kilometres with around 20,000 metres of elevation gain. Riders follow a fixed GPX route through the Norwegian highlands, crossing iconic locations including Trollstigen, Jotunheimen National Park, Rondane National Park, and parts of the famous Mjølkevegen. The course is roughly 60% paved and 40% gravel, offering a perfect balance of fast roads and rugged adventure.
The Bright Midnight follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. Thanks to its July timing, participants experience the magic of Norway’s midnight sun, where daylight never truly disappears and the adventure continues around the clock.
Combining world-class scenery, demanding climbs, and the unique experience of riding through endless daylight, The Bright Midnight has quickly established itself as one of Europe’s most distinctive bikepacking events. It is a true celebration of adventure, endurance, and the wild beauty of Norway.
