What to Expect on Rebecca’s Private Idaho

Rebecca’s Private Idaho (RPI) is one of North America’s most iconic gravel cycling events, held each September in the spectacular mountains surrounding Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho. Founded by ultra-endurance legend Rebecca Rusch, the event combines world-class gravel riding with a festival atmosphere, attracting everyone from professional racers to first-time gravel riders.

Rather than a single race, Rebecca’s Private Idaho offers multiple route options. The flagship Baked Potato covers approximately 165 km (103 miles) with around 1,870 metres (6,130 ft) of climbing, while the Fully Loaded Potato extends the challenge to 190 km (118 miles) with 2,100 metres (6,890 ft) of elevation gain. Additional routes include the French Fry (90 km) and Tater Tot (30 km), allowing riders of all abilities to experience Idaho’s rugged gravel roads and breathtaking mountain scenery.

Beyond the main event, riders can take part in the optional Queen Stage Race, a multi-day challenge that combines cross-country trails, a hill climb time trial, and the signature gravel race. While the event features competitive racing, it also celebrates the wider gravel community through group rides, expos, live music, and fundraising for the Be Good Foundation.

With its stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop, challenging courses, and welcoming atmosphere, Rebecca’s Private Idaho has earned its reputation as one of the world’s premier gravel events. It offers a unique blend of endurance, adventure, and community that keeps riders returning year after year.
