What to Expect on Slovakia Divide Challenge

Slovakia Divide is a self-supported mountain bikepacking race that crosses the length of Slovakia, following a demanding route through the country’s most spectacular mountain ranges. Designed for riders who embrace remote terrain and long days in the saddle, the event combines rugged gravel roads, forest tracks, and quiet backroads into one unforgettable crossing of the Carpathians.

The flagship route covers approximately 1,000 kilometres with around 18,000 metres of elevation gain, starting in Bratislava and finishing in Nová Sedlica, Slovakia’s easternmost village. Along the way, riders traverse the Little Carpathians, Low Tatras, Slovak Paradise, and Poloniny National Park, experiencing an ever-changing landscape of dense forests, mountain ridges, alpine meadows, and traditional villages.

Slovakia Divide follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, resupply, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. The fixed GPS route rewards careful pacing and efficient decision-making as much as physical endurance.

Despite its relatively compact distance, the route is relentlessly hilly. Steep climbs, rough forest roads, and remote sections with limited services demand both strong technical riding skills and careful planning. The reward is an authentic journey through one of Central Europe’s least explored cycling destinations.

Blending challenging terrain, breathtaking mountain scenery, and the spirit of true bikepacking, Slovakia Divide has established itself as one of the region’s premier ultra-distance off-road events, offering riders a rewarding adventure from one end of Slovakia to the other.
