Slovakia Divide Hardline is the most demanding route in the Slovakia Divide series, created for experienced mountain bike bikepackers seeking a true Carpathian wilderness challenge. Combining remote ridgelines, technical descents, and long stretches without civilization, Hardline pushes riders across the wildest mountain ranges of Slovakia.
The route covers approximately 980 kilometres with around 21,000 metres of elevation gain, starting near Modra in the Little Carpathians and finishing in Beňatina, one of Slovakia’s easternmost villages. Unlike the gravel edition, Hardline is designed specifically for MTB bikes, featuring rough forest tracks, rocky trails, steep climbs, and demanding descents through some of the country’s most isolated terrain.
The event follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. A night start and a 200-hour time limit add an extra layer of difficulty, making physical fitness, technical skill, and mental resilience equally important for success.
With its relentless climbing, technical terrain, and remote mountain scenery, Slovakia Divide Hardline stands as one of Central Europe’s toughest MTB bikepacking events — a true test of endurance for riders ready to face the wild side of the Carpathians.
Based on this event's terrain, difficulty and riding style.
Slovakia Divide Hardline covers 980 km with 21000 m of climbing along the way — a steadily rolling profile from start to finish.
Slovakia Divide Hardline's terrain calls for a Hardtail MTB, ideally running 2.2-2.4" Tubeless tires. On the drivetrain side, a 30-32T (1x) chainring matched to a 10-52T cassette gives enough range for the climbing involved.
We rate Slovakia Divide Hardline as Advanced overall. Riders should be ready for seriously technical, unforgiving terrain throughout, consistently demanding, with sustained climbing elevation gain, and mild and generally comfortable conditions.
Slovakia Divide Hardline takes place on July 31, 2026. That puts it in summer, with long daylight hours, though heat can become a real factor.
Slovakia Divide Hardline's route is off-road. Plan your tire choice around 2.2-2.4" Tubeless for the best combination of speed and comfort.
