What to Expect on Tour Horizont

Tour Horizont is a community-driven bikepacking adventure that crosses Hungary from west to east, inviting riders to discover the country’s diverse landscapes at their own pace. Organised by KLND, the event is a “no-race” experience where the focus is on exploration, personal challenge, and the shared spirit of bikepacking rather than competition.

The main route covers 693 kilometres with approximately 8,700 metres of elevation gain, starting in Szentgotthárd near the Austrian border and finishing in Budapest. The fully signposted route is made up of roughly 60% paved roads and 40% gravel, passing through forests, rolling hills, hidden trails, historic villages, and some of Hungary’s most scenic regions. A shorter 220 km Horizont Intro route is also available for riders new to multi-day bikepacking.

Unlike traditional ultra races, Tour Horizont offers a flexible format. Riders have seven days to complete the route, can choose where to sleep each night, and are welcome to ride together. Community basecamps and checkpoints along the route provide places to meet fellow participants, while luggage transfer to the finish and digital route tracking make the event especially approachable for first-time bikepackers.

Combining beautiful gravel riding with local culture and a welcoming atmosphere, Tour Horizont is an ideal introduction to multi-day bikepacking while still offering a rewarding endurance challenge for experienced riders. It’s an event that celebrates the journey, the people you meet along the way, and the freedom of exploring Hungary by bike.
