Trail of the Southern Oasis is a new addition to the Morocco-BikeAdventure family of events, an unsupported bikepacking adventure starting in Nador on Morocco's Mediterranean coast and finishing at Sidi Ifni on the Atlantic. The Road edition covers 2,060 kilometers with approximately 15,950 meters of elevation gain, entirely on paved surfaces, leading riders through palm-filled river valleys, ancient caravan routes, and forgotten railway outposts deep into the south of the country. The route was introduced specifically to take riders into Morocco's remote southern Sahara fringe, an area beyond the more established northern routes used by the original Morocco-BikeAdventure and Mines & Dunes events.
The journey takes riders through windswept plains and increasingly desert-like terrain as it heads south, eventually reaching the wide-open landscapes near the Sahara where the silence of the desert and the shifting dunes define the riding experience. Organized by Transbike Adventures, the team behind the broader Morocco-BikeAdventure series, NorthCape4000, and the Iberica-Traversa events, Trail of the Southern Oasis is designed to take roughly a week to complete, with riders able to choose between the rugged gravel piste route or this fully paved road alternative depending on their preferred riding style.
