NorthCape4000 is one of the world’s most iconic self-supported ultra-distance cycling adventures, taking riders from the foothills of the Alps to the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Crossing 8 countries on a fixed route, the event combines endurance, exploration, and the unique experience of riding beneath the Midnight Sun.
The 2026 edition covers approximately 4,000 kilometres, starting in Rovereto, Italy, and finishing at North Cape (Nordkapp), Norway. Riders pass through Italy, Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway, with four mandatory control gates in Munich, Berlin, Gränna, and Rovaniemi. The route features around 30,000 metres of elevation gain, blending alpine climbs, coastal roads, forests, lakes, and Arctic landscapes.
NorthCape4000 follows a self-supported philosophy, with riders responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, ferry logistics, and mechanical repairs. Unlike traditional races, the event welcomes both competitive athletes and adventurous cyclists, offering a shared journey where personal achievement and camaraderie are just as important as speed.
From the vineyards of northern Italy to the tundra of Lapland and the dramatic cliffs of Nordkapp, NorthCape4000 is more than a cycling event — it is a continental-scale expedition that transforms an impossible dream into an unforgettable reality.
